Education
KNGO Australia recognises the vital role education plays in helping break the cycle of poverty and is committed to empowering underprivileged children through education. We support KNGO Cambodia in providing a quality supplementary education for the children of Bospo Village.
Education provides hope for a better future for many of Cambodia's children. The KNGO Cambodia school located in Bospo Village on the outskirts of Battambang, delivers supplementary education to over 450 students. English lessons are the main focus, with extra tuition in Khmer Literacy and Numeracy, Life Skills, Information Technology and Vocational training all part of the curriculum.
KNGO Australia provides financial and operational support for the KNGO Cambodia school in Bospo. Teacher training, managerial support and provision of resources are provided on an ongoing basis. In 2022, KNGO Australia is fundraising to provide 15 desktop computers to upgrade and expand the existing facilities in the student computer room. Students are currently sharing computers in classes which is not providing them with the adequate skills needed to become computer literate. Information Technology is essential in ensuring students can continue onto further study or find employment after finishing school.
Scholarships are also provided for some students, once they have completed school, to attend dental nurse training in Phnom Penh each year. Once skills are developed, the ability to earn a sustainable income provides hope for a better future for the entire family.
